Pros and Cons of an Internet Based Home Business

An internet based business, for our purposes, is one that uses the internet primarily for its revenue streams.  There are many types of internet based businesses.  Affiliate Marketing, Online Auction Marketing, Online Stores (e-commerce) are only a few of the various ways to start your own business from home.  I am not going into some of the “money making” or “get rich quick” schemes that are available on the internet, because we are focusing on Home Based Businesses, and are really too smart to fall for those kinds of things!

The Pro’s of Internet Based Businesses

Typically lower start up capital than a traditional business.

Allow great flexibility in time and hours of operation. (Great for moms, night owls, or those with regular day time jobs who are looking for a second income.)

No geographical boundaries (which is great if you have no mode of transportation or live out in the middle of nowhere like me!)

The Con’s of Internet Based Businesses

You tend to work in solitude with little actual interaction with others.

Some areas have a lot of competetion.

Lack of geographical boundaries allows more competition.
